The great thing about Ty Seren in Gowerton is that it is in a lovely quiet place but only a stone's throw from Swansea and Llanelli, both of which offer loads of things to do.

Ross has been out and about enjoying some of these options this week with a trip to the shops and the cinema where he bought his own popcorn and drink. Great work Ross!

We are so pleased to be able to post our first good news story from Pembrokeshire!

This week David Slocombe of the NAS presented the Autism Accreditation certificate to Rosendale resident Edwin who is pictured here with staff and other residents outside Bangeston Hall.

Accreditation is jointly awarded to Bangeston Hall, Rosendale and Stockwell - three of the four Orbis houses in Pembrokeshire. The fourth house, The Manse at Lower Freystrop, was too new to be included on this occasion.

In their report the NAS celebrated the following!
- The highly personalised nature of the provision.
- Opportunities for people with autism to take part in enjoyable activities related to their personal interests.
- Approaches which encourage people with autism to develop self-reliance and self-esteem.
- The respect shown to individuals' choices and decisions.
- Strategies to address sensory issues.
- A positive, underpinning training and education strategy both for the staff team and the people they support.

Congratulations to all the staff and residents in achieving this certificate!

Ty Seren is a new 8-room adult service on the outskirts of Swansea and over Christmas our first adults joined us and settled in really well!

Here's Ross who loves nothing more than to have a nice long soak with a foot spa! And why not!

Last term Class 1 at Ty Bronllys unanimously chose to study the topic of 'dinosaur planet' this term.

What better way to start the new term then than with a bearded dragon coming to visit for the day. Pupils handled Oscar with care and helped feed him at snack time. A big thank you to Emma for bringing Oscar in for the day!

Ethan and Hassan continued to build up their friendship and practised being dinosaurs together.

In December Jack from Ty Bronllys won Pupil of the Month!

For his reward he chose to go to the Principality Stadium for a tour. He loved seeing the pitch, climbed all the way to the top of the stadium and chanted for his favourite team. He even got to sit in the Queen's seat and hold the trophy, before taking part in his very own press conference with staff and the WRU team.

A great day for Jack, Well done!

The teaching staff from Orbis schools visited Coleg Elidyr this week and it was such a great experience. The staff there were so welcoming.

It was a really good team building activity for the 14-19 teachers across Summergil House, Ty Coryton and Ty Bronllys and we came away with lots of great ideas.

An amazing day was had by all. Thank you to everyone at Coleg Elidyr for making us feel so welcome.
